Commercial Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) for existing or new built premises
Energy Performance Certificates for your business premises. An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rates how energy efficient your building is using grades from A to G (with ‘A’ the most efficient grade). You must have an EPC if:
you rent out or sell the premises
a building under construction is finished
there are changes to the number of parts used for separate occupation and these changes involve providing or extending fixed heating, air conditioning or mechanical ventilation systems
You must display an EPC by fixing it to your commercial building if all these apply:
the total useful floor area is over 500 square meters
the building is frequently visited by the public
an EPC has already been produced for the building’s sale, rental or construction
All EPCs are valid for 10 years.
EPC key points:
Legal Requirement: In many countries, including the UK and EU, an EPC is legally required when a commercial property is built, sold, or rented out. It ensures potential buyers or tenants know the energy performance of the building.
Energy Efficiency Improvement: The EPC report includes recommendations for improving energy efficiency, which can help reduce running costs and carbon footprint.
Property Value Impact: A higher energy efficiency rating can increase the value of a commercial property and make it more attractive to tenants or buyers.
Compliance: Non-compliance with EPC regulations can result in fines, so it’s essential for property owners and landlords to obtain one when needed.
